I like what He*Said*Strip had to say. Go for the sound and not the brand. Also too, your amp will have a lot on your tone. I teach bass to a thirteen year old wonder, and from the first day of playing, I lent her two of my bass guitars. One was a Yamaha fretted FIVE STRING bass and the other was a custom Azola FIVE STRING Fretless bass. Having never played bass, she took to both the fretted and the fretless bass like she had been doing it all of her life, and she loves the LOW B STRING that you cannot get on a four string bass! The low B allows a player more notes, more tone, more expression, and the necd does not feel that different from a four string bass. For Christmas she got a bass from her parents; a Fender five string fretted bass with active electronics in candy-apple red. It sounds great, and she is playing some wonderful music. Her influences are Maroon 5.

heyhey, I'm new here, just found this page and joined the forum.... I have a Modulus Graphite - it was my first bass (and still is..) and I love it ...... I think you should try and find out by yourself what you like or dislike.....well I just knew that this was my bass when I held it in my hands.....
