I think I write Metal, but have a lot of jazz influences that I try to incorporate to the music.

That must be really interesting... But, that's a very good thing! Most of my stuff would probably be considered rock or pop, but I also write country stuff sometimes too. When I get a bug up my butt... I think I write Metal, but have a lot of jazz influences that I try to incorporate to the music. -Siren

i write whatever is in me that needs to come out. Usually it can be categorized as angry chick rock, but I do some good ballads, too... and I too incorporate non-conventional harmony into my music. Right now I am writing a modern/jazz art song that will have lyrics in Portuguese (in honor of being ditched by a sexy egocentric and slightly pervy Brazilian). I am an "old school" writer... my songs rely heavily on melody and structure. Very little free-form found here.

Musically, I write art rock pop. Lyrically, my words have much in common with the beat style by writers like Allen Ginsberg.

I write a lot of depressing stuff.I've posted some of my work in forums and many people agree that my work is sad.All in all with the guitar and drums and such added to my lyrics it comes out as hard rock/metal if I were to call in anything.

i just try to write about what i observe within myself as well as my surroundings. sometimes it'll be about the rain, sometimes it will be the rising and falling of a lover's chest as they sleep, or it could just be about not having enough money to pay for my cup of coffee. i try to find music in everything. i draw a lot of inspiration from artists like Ani DiFranco and Tom Waits, and poets such as Sylvia Plath and Charles Bukowski.
i don't have a band, i like playing solo acoustic gigs so most of my stuff is blues-infused artsy folk chick-rock. haha that's a mouthful!
