Britney kiss angers Nicks By Nui Te Koha September 19, 2003
STEVIE Nicks rates the notorious Madonna-Britney kiss as the most obnoxious television moment ever.
Stevie Nicks (below) says the kiss was "the most obnoxious moment in television history".
"First of all, Madonna is too old to be kissing someone who is 22," the Fleetwood Mac singer told the Herald Sun.
"And Britney should be smarter than that. Hopefully, she will figure a way out of this hole she has dug for herself."
Original rock chick Nicks, 55, said Spears and Christina Aguilera should wear more clothes and try writing decent songs.
"I personally have never been to a strip club, but I turn on MTV and see in every single video what it must be like to be at a strip club," Nicks said.
"I think the mystery is gone, and if you have no mystery, then you aren't even sexy.
"Real sexuality and sensuality is in the music, and all these girls, vis-a-vis, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and on and on, should go back to writing songs and start over because it won't last and they won't last.
"When they are 55, they won't be around and that's sad because I think a lot of those girls are very talented. But they are signing their own death warrants."
Nicks was appalled by Madonna's publicity stunt kiss with Spears at the recent MTV Awards.
"I thought it was the most obnoxious moment in television history," she said.
"Madonna will be fine. Madonna is Madonna. She does what she wants. She will get over this. But will Britney get over it? I don't know."
Nicks revealed Madonna asked Jennifer Lopez to be in the smoochy routine, but J.Lo told Madge to kiss something else.
Nicks is the ultimate rock survivor, weathering drug addictions, depression and a tumultuous relationship with Lindsey Buckingham.

Its about time someone with 'Class" has enough balls to speak out against the trash that has become of music for the last 20 years! Stevie Nicks & Christine McVie have always shown class not only as songwriters but more importantly as musicians who have never demeaned themselves in any trashy way to get media attention. I'm glad I'm not the only person who has had enough of Madonna's digusting public habits & her 2 equally pathetic proteges!! How she dares to raise 2 kids & be allowed to write a chilren's book is beyond comprehension! They haven't ever & will never write a decent song if their life depended on it!
Stevie Nicks is & will always be the Queen of R'n'R Class!! Something Mrs. M will never know!

Stevie is just jealous that she can't get that kind of pub anymore. What's the big deal about all this, anyway? Madonna has been pulling stunts like this since day one. I agree that it was silly and unnecessary, but who cares? Madonna never claimed to be a great songwriter. She just wanted to be famous and wealthy--and she is. No matter what her tactics, you've got to at least give her credit for becoming one of the most powerful ladies in the music business. We only know the Madonna we see in the media. None of us can possibly know what she is like as a mother, so I take issue with your comment that she "dares to raise two kids." Being Madonna is her job. Would you say that about a successful, but very nasty female corporate lawyer? And hey, wasn't Stevie a drug addict?

Right, sure! I take your reply yes Stevie was a drug addict [1st of all she became addicted to coke, got over it easy & then painkillers when an almighty doctor prescribed them to her!] but she never involved kids in her equation while she was doing that, hurt anyone in the process & never had to whore herself to get whtever she didn't have!]. The fact that 'that woman' [i'm tired of mentioning her name] also put her little daughter up there in a mini wedding dress knowing she was going to do that is beyond pathetic! If demeaning & degrading yourself to no end means thats going to make you a success & that's what you call a 'job' then I would hope no other ladys feel they have to limit or whore themselves so much to be a successful business woman in whatever business they may want to be. If thats the message you want to send to little girls all around the world then I feel so sorry for you if thats what you think will make you powerful in this world. As for Stevie being jealous, thats a joke! She's still is the most beautiful, classy, perfect musician & songwriter who has been given a ton of respect by everyone for making nothing but GREAT music & thats something 'that woman' can NEVER say! !

you make good points, but I do think "that woman" is a product of the music business and that she's just playing the game. yes, she goes overboard and she's pretty tired and trying much harder than ever to stay in the public eye. Frankly, I don't really like "that woman" or Britney or Christina or any of those man-made tartlets. But my solution has always been to avoid the mainstream garbage and make a point to seek out real women who play real music.

I'm not sure either of them would be poster children for the "Family Values" crowd, (at least not the one that comes to mind..lol), but they are both great in their own right. One of the things you have to admire about them is the ability to evolve and continue to be musical. The kiss itself was, of course, uncalled for but that's what we can expect not only from Madonna, but just about anything related to MTV. It's not about the music so much anymore as it is the sensationalism.

Greetings, lovely ladies! Well, Ms. Stevie Nicks is no fool. At least, she's not one to miss a publicity op herself! She's been around, achieved huge success, and paid for it by living some of the downsides that go hand-in-hand with embracing the rock-n-roll lifestyle/dream. I love and adore her gigantic talent. [Meanwhile... back on planet Earth] Come on ladies... t's only a little kiss. We raise a LOT less hell over people pimping and blowing eachother away on prime time, when lotsa little kiddies are watching. Wasn't the kiss on SNL? Late, late at nite, when only perverts like myself, who shall remain nameless, and a few million dateless guys and their bored insomniac friends are watching? I'd much rather have my children see a couple meat puppets kissing, than Jean Claude and some no-name beating the bodily fluids out of one another. But look at it this way, both Madonna and Britney got a whole lot richer, and since they both have their own charitable and philanthropic interests, they have more money to throw at good causes. I'm always for that.
Ever wonder if the 9 to fivers hate rebels because they think they're just freaks, or because they get to "hor" themselves out in ways that are a lot more fun that putting on a monkey suit everyday and kissing the next rear up the ladder? Kisses, darlings!

What I don't get about this whole Britney-Madonna-Christina kiss thing is that no one ever mentions Christina... It's always Britney & Madonna. Why no Christina?
I don't really care anyway, but I do think that is odd...

[quote author=froggie What I don't get about this whole Britney-Madonna-Christina kiss thing is that no one ever mentions Christina... It's always Britney & Madonna. Why no Christina? I don't really care anyway, but I do think that is odd...[/quote] Because right after M&B kissed the camera immediately cut to Justin Timberlake to get his reaction. The shot was already planned well in advanced, just like that "spontaneous" kiss. And I am willing to bet that Christina is pissed that she didn't get any press from that cheesy stunt.

Why WOULD Christina care? She can let her voice speak for itself. Not like Christina couldn't find some little bimbette of her own to slip her the tongue on national t.v.

Personally I prefer publicity stunts to have a deeper meaning
