Yeah, and Sting and Clapton, too, because age has everything to do with it, I'm sure. Thank gawd Janis and Hendrix aren't still alive, or think how fuckin old they'd be!

The only thing that Madonna really has against her is that she hasn't put anything out that was a rave success lately. All of the members of Aerosmith are old too, but they still rock!!

Brittany - Helping the world narrow beauty standards one album at a time. Madonna - I don't like her. But I don't think her age has much to do with how her career should go. Age discrimination isn't cool and goes up there with discrimination of sexual identity, race and gender. Beyonce - I remember thinking that 'old' R&B was the only R&B. I'm disapointed by this pop crap. There was a time when the women and men who sang this genre actually had a soul to bare. Her music is so... empty and fabricated.
Just my two pennies.

i think what your saying is really stupid i agree with rosie if someone was saying these things about courtney love etc i think the message wouldnt even get posted it would be deleted straight up. i know it is a forum everyone entitled to their views etc but it is also the forum for rockrgrl as in alternative types of music why not speak postively yes britney etc is not your thing but its like dick clark said ''popular music is poular cause alot of people like it that doesnt mean its good or its bad - thats the equilvalent of arguing the merits of hot dogs v's hamburgers what the hell difference does it make?'' i think u should add some rock stars to your list of stupidity anyway cause i dont think overdosing in front of your child 'making it fun' is so clever is it.... its just an opinion i do not wish to argue but i thnk it is good to find the good points about people pop stars might be 'sell out's' only in it for the money etc but they are alot more finacialy stable than me and thats a good thing, no? we are all only human and besides imagine if eveyone was into your faverite band there was no maddonna or britney rock music wouldnt be alternative it would be popular it would be pop music !!!!

spyfriday makes some seriously good points. complaining about (fill in name of artist here) does not make them go away. Find something you like rather than feeding into the negativity of the culture. the controversy ONLY makes them stick around longer!! AND - more importantly - don't buy into the "beauty pagaent" mentality of pigeon-holing female artists. We need MORE of every kind of artist so that it stops becoming a novelty. Hamburgers vs. hot dogs - good one!!!!! Carla

Oh, yeah, Carla! That's right on! I'm still wondering whether anyone can enlighten me with what particular age one "magically" crosses over from talented, successful artiste to somehow being too old to do what they've always done, which is create and share music.- {thinking...} {thinking...thinking} {hmmm... nope, don't see it.} {Anybody help me?} {Anybody? Anybody?} {Bueller?} . .

If you're thinking it - say it.

Wholly cow on a cracker, Carla! I didn't know Twinkies had an expiration date! I thought they were immune to the ravages of time... like Velveeta.

I can't agree with y'all more...we gotta stop thinking a woman is useless after 35. If anything we get BETTER! And how come no one makes a big deal about the "old" men who are still making music? But as soon as a woman gets over 29 suddenly she shouldn't be seen or heard, or isn't capable of producing valid art. Sheesh...sometimes we are our own worst enemies!

I used to have respect for Beyonce when she was with Destiny's Child. They had a message of empowerment for all chix.
But now, she seems to have sold out to "the Man" - marketing herself as some sort of sex object, letting us all down.
She was super sexy before, but now? Uh-uh!

Madonna is class -full stop- Ok i thought the last thing I heard her do was absolute pants but i can forgive her that because of her perpetual greatness through the years
Erm by the way I would like to see the rolling stones just stop.
