The spring issue of ROCKRGRL is going to focus on female drummers - and I must say, the discussion on this board has been fantastic! It IS important to see role models.
SO - who do you think should be on the COVER of our super special hard-hitting DRUM issue?

Anyone other than Meg White! Am I the only one tired of that overhyped band?

I can't find Rockrgrl near me. Who are the upcoming drummers that you're featuring?
BTW, excellent choices for the cover!!!

Hello to all! An issue about female drummers...it doesn't get any better than that!! Anyway, just a quick question...is there a major store chain that sells RockrGrl? Man I really want this issue...but I can't afford to subscribe right now. I suppose I should check the major book stores like Barnes & Noble etc, etc... ;D Holy Moly...so excited... I'm new here by the way....hello to everyone...I am Brenda....AKA WickedFemDrummer....Just started drumming like 2 months ago...and I AM LOVING IT...this issue is a total dream come true to me...ok didn't mean to blab..heehee...just if anyone could help me with a purchase location I would be sooo happy...I live in CA. Ok ....thanks!

there is a list of stores on the site: www.rockrgrl.com/store.htmlBuT it is out of date - we're updating it this week. But REALLY - a subscription is only $15 and women GOTTA support themselves rather than the horrible chain stores. Welcome!! Carla

HI Carla,
I guess maybe i should've written this when this issue came out but now that the new one is coming out maybe this will change if you do it again!
I guess I was slightly opposed to the mini-profiles that the drum ladys recieved & to ask them all the same questions?? What is that about?? DRum jokes??? the worst thing you've been told?? It sounds like the questions were asked by men in suckoid Modern Drummer no less!
I think you could've come up with better questions & more lengthy profiles about these great drummers without offending anyone. No offense but having 5 girls on the cover as opposed to one is something again Modern Drummer would do [& actually did to avoid talking about them for another 5 years!]!
Lets have some respect & honor for these women without subjecting them to silly questions that some guy reporter would only ask to kill time. I'm sure they had fun answering them, but to ask a 9 year old little girl questions like that is not what she should be learning now, when she gets older & decides how stupid that was & will waste us all with the band thats gonna kick everyone's collective sorry ass! I personally cannot wait for that!
Just my opinion, luv ya Carla
Rozzzzz

Carla,
Now that the drummer issue is out and done.....
HOW ABOUT A BASSIST ISSUE???
Plenty of awesome female bassists to fill it up with. As a bassist yourself, I know you are into this idea!!!
Go for it!

I honestly think, The drumchick from the rock band (Skillet) should be on the front cover. Because she has shown the true drumchick artist:) She is awsome and she has shown that drumchicks can last in a band! Espeacially a (ROCK BAND)!

hey drummerboy, The reason people cut holes in the bass drum head is just so it's eaiser to mic when recording or playing live. Really, it's a personal thing. It doesn't really affect the sound much...I have a hole in mine because I record, but I think If I could do it again I wouldn't. Some people also just take off the whole front head for micing. And yeah, you can cut any shape you want just don't cut away too much of the front head if you still want there to be something to resonate.

The hole in the kick drum head is also used for stage miking and not just for recording. It's not necessary but does allow for better results since you can capture the resonance from inside the kick drum shell and get more or less beater sound through careful mike placement.
